The Simraceway Game Client Won't Launch rFactor
You try to join a server on Race Hq, the client launches, scans, downloads and installs (if required) but rFactor doesn't launch.
This could be due to one of the following six situations:
- Latest version of the client isn't installed - please ensure you have the latest version of the client, this will eventually auto update, for now please see the Simraceway Game Client Download page, also ensure you have the required files for the client to work, please see the Simraceway Client won't start topic.
- Game installation location incorrect - run the Simraceway Game Client, click on Game Configuration, then ISI rFactor and ensure the installation location of rFactor is configured correctly in the client, clicking Browse and navigating to the rFactor installation location is recommended.
- rFactor configured incorrectly - be sure that rFactor is setup correctly, a poorly configured resolution can result in the game not starting (if running in windowed mode, make sure your colour depth in rFactor (16/32-bit) matches your desktop - usually 32-bit), please go to the rFactor installation directory then run the 'rf config' file and check over the settings there first then click 'Ok' to save them, make sure to run rFactor in offline/normal mode first to ensure it works.
- rFactor plugins - be sure that you have installed any rFactor plugins correctly, if you are not sure that they are then remove all associated files and run rFactor in offline/normal mode first to ensure it works.
- User Account Control - for those running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you may need to disable User Account Control which can be done in the User Accounts section in the Control Panel, or install the game and client into a non protected system folder e.g. "C:\rFactor" and "C:\SRW" or to another partition/hard drive.
- Try a different browser - in some cases browsers (non specific) have present this issue where by which the game client will launch and operate as expected with the exception of not launching rFactor, in this case please try Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Opera Browser does not work with the Simraceway Game Client in its current iteration.
