The latest pursuit of perfection from the unpronounceable Swedish hypercar company, the Koenigsegg Agera R debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011. A special edition of the Agera, it is more powerful than its big brother and runs on the same green diet as its 2007-launched predecessor, the CCXR.
Featuring a pioneering chassis and suspension system underneath its carbon-fiber-and-Kevlar body, the Agera R shares its sibling’s signature “dihedral synchro-helix actuation” doors but trades in its conventional, electronically-adjustable dynamic rear wing for a lighter, smarter wind-pressure-activated one.
Its proprietary 5.0-liter biofuel V8 twin-turbo engine can produce 1,140 bhp (a significant upgrade on the already-potent Agera) and, in harness with its seven-speed dual clutch transmission, take it from 0 to 60 mph in under 2.9 seconds—a prodigious rate of acceleration that helped the Agera R break six land speed records for a production car, including the Bugatti Veyron’s coveted 0-300 km/h time.
