Using every last drop of supercar know-how gained from the development of the S7 and S7 TT, Saleen designed the S5S Raptor with the Ferrari F430 and its European ilk well-and-truly in its sights. Slated to hit showrooms at less than half the price of its hardcore big brother, it made its first appearance at the 2008 New York International Auto Show.

And it certainly looked the part, thanks to the input of renowned auto stylists, ASC. From its curvaceous carbon-fiber, sun flair-yellow-clad exterior, to its full-length, solar-tinted sunroof, everything about the S5S Raptor screamed "supercar".

What's more, its mid-mounted 5.0-liter supercharged Ford V8, capable of delivering 650 bhp on a diet of clean, green ethanol, looked certain to ruffle the feathers of its more illustrious rivals across the pond. With a top speed of over 200 mph and acceleration of 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds, the Raptor seemed destined to leave the automotive establishment sucking on its eco-friendly fumes.

With the demise of Saleen, Inc. in 2009 the world never got to see its all-new supercar hit the track, but you can! To get behind the wheel of the "F430-killer", buy the Saleen S5S Raptor on Simraceway now!
